Rental Terms
All car rentals in Blackburn are governed by a comprehensive Rental Agreement that you will receive upon booking confirmation or at the time of vehicle pickup. This document outlines the specific terms, conditions, insurance coverage, fees, and your obligations related to the rental. In case of any discrepancies between these Terms and the Rental Agreement, the Rental Agreement will prevail.
Eligibility Criteria
Renting a vehicle with us requires:
- To rent a vehicle from Car Hire Blackburn, you must be at least 21 years old, though age restrictions may vary depending on the vehicle selected, with extra fees applicable for drivers under 25. A valid full driving licence suitable for your chosen vehicle category is required, along with identification and proof of your current address. You will also need to provide valid payment information and a security deposit, meeting any other requirements outlined in the Rental Agreement.
Booking and Payments
- Reservations can be made via our website, by phone, or directly at our Blackburn office. A deposit may be necessary to confirm your booking. The total payment, along with a security deposit, is generally required at the time of vehicle pickup. All prices are listed in British Pounds (£) and include VAT where applicable. We accept major credit and debit cards, securely processed through trusted payment providers.
4. Vehicle Pickup and Drop-off
- At the time of vehicle collection, you are required to conduct a thorough inspection and promptly report any pre-existing damage. A vehicle condition report will be generated and must be signed by both parties. It is imperative to return the vehicle in the same condition as it was collected, factoring in normal wear and tear. Any new damage will be evaluated and may result in additional charges. The vehicle should be returned with the same fuel level as at pickup; refueling charges will apply if it is returned with less fuel. Late returns are subject to extra fees, so please notify us as soon as possible if you anticipate a delay. You will be responsible for any parking fines, traffic violations, or charges incurred during your rental, along with an associated administration fee.
Insurance and Responsibility
- All rentals come with basic third-party insurance included. Comprehensive coverage information and excess amounts will be outlined in your Rental Agreement. Options for additional insurance may be available to lessen your financial liability. It is advisable to review these options closely. You will be liable for any damage or loss up to the excess amount unless further insurance is purchased. Any damage resulting from negligence, misuse, or violation of these Terms remains your responsibility, regardless of insurance coverage.
Cancellation and Modifications
Cancellation and amendment policies differ based on the type of booking and the notice given. For precise information, please consult your booking confirmation or Rental Agreement. Be aware that late cancellations or no-shows can lead to additional charges.
7. Restricted Activities
Prohibited Uses of Rental Vehicle
- Usage of the vehicle for illegal activities is prohibited. Engaging in racing, rallying, off-roading, or similar risky behaviors is not allowed. Transporting hazardous materials is strictly forbidden. Sub-letting the vehicle or permitting unauthorized drivers is not permitted. Driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs is unacceptable. The vehicle must only be used for its intended purpose, adhering to passenger and weight limits. Driving outside designated geographical boundaries requires prior approval.
Breach of these terms may lead to rental cancellation and extra fees.
8. Liability Restrictions
To the fullest extent allowed under English and Welsh law, Blackburn Car Hire will not be responsible for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, including loss of profits, data, or business, resulting from your use of our services. Our total liability for any claims is limited to the rental amount you paid in the last 12 months. This limitation does not apply to liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, or for fraudulent actions.

These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, with any disputes falling under the jurisdiction of their courts.
